Our Farm

The farm is in the heart of Millarville on a little over 50 acres. There's a variety of animals to see, and even newborn lambs each spring! We have fully wire mesh-fenced pastures and round pens to suit each stage of training. Indoor space in the barn for scent work, and a covered small sand arena.

We raise a variety of sheep - some are light and move quickly, others are slower and heavy - but all have a part to play teaching dogs how to read sheep and adjust their pace and style. During the year we also have lambs that dogs can see (depending on their training, this may just be through a fence). All of the sheep live their whole lives on the farm and we use their wool for a variety of great products, visit: www.woollymeadowsfelting.com for more information.

Goats (Pygmy/ Nigerian Dwarf) are also a great choice for new-to-herding dogs because they tend to love people, and are very tolerant! They have bright, bubbly personalities and range in age from kids to seniors!

Ducks (Pekin/ Indian Runner) and Geese (Embden) are reserved for instinct testing (inside a pen), for more advanced dogs, for very gentle ones, or dogs willing to learn on a long line! They require a bit more patience, but are SO fun!

There are also livestock guardians that defend and protect our flock - alpacas, a donkey, and horses. Simply walking past these while on a leash to your lesson can greatly benefit dogs who need to work on confidence and socialization.
